Augusto Freeman and Gustavo Gómez
Artists, performers, and pedagogues of argentine dance.
Of Argentine origin, Augusto Freeman is a tango dancer and specialist in biomechanics and movement optimization. A tango teacher graduated from the Fracassi Conservatory in Buenos Aires, he began his classical dance training at the Norma Fontenla School, where he developed a solid technical foundation that he later integrated into the language of tango.
He is the author of the first book dedicated to tango from a biomechanical perspective, "Los Secretos Biomecánicos del Tango," a pioneering work that offers an innovative approach to understanding movement, bodily efficiency, and dance pedagogy. He is the founder of the Tango Free Motion project, through which he now supports dancers and teachers around the world in developing a more conscious, effective, and sustainable movement teaching method.
Having lived in Paris for five years, he is the Tango Escenario Champion in France (Vichy, 2025). He teaches regularly in Paris, Toulouse, Malta, Italy, and Düsseldorf. His teaching method is winning over a growing number of students every day thanks to the clarity and effectiveness of his concepts, which allow dancers to perform movements with greater freedom, physical balance, and body awareness, accompanied by specific training that transforms both mind and body.
Gustavo Gómez, a dancer and teacher of tango and Argentine folklore, trained with renowned masters such as Los Dinzel, Hernán Obispo, and Mingo Pugliese, continuing his studies with Gustavo Naveira, Giselle Anne, Federico Moreno, and Catherine Berbessou. He trained in Argentine folklore with Beatriz Durante and Rubén Suárez.
He is the founder of the Gruppo Folklorico De Mi Tierra company, which has performed at numerous festivals. As a member of several dance companies, including Uballet Argentino and the Ballet Folklorico of the University of Buenos Aires, he toured and performed in festivals in Latin America, Canada, and Europe between 1993 and 2001.
Having settled in France since 2002, he teaches regularly in cities such as Toulouse, Carcassonne, Montauban, Perpignan, and Saint-Affrique. He has participated in important international festivals, including Tarbes en Tango (in several editions), Le Temps du Tango in Brittany, Tangopostale in Toulouse, the Montpellier Festival, the Sylvanès Abbey Festival and the Cuba Hoy Festival.
With Típica Tangarte, he participated in the Cumbre Mundial del Tango in Seville, Salamanca, Malmö, and the Finland Festival.
In 2011, he created the show "Estampas Argentinas" and in 2016, "Tango y Más." He has also actively contributed to the development of tango on the island of Reunion.
Together, Augusto Freeman and Gustavo Gómez offer a complementary approach that combines biomechanical research, tradition, improvisation, and cultural transmission. Their work promotes an authentic, conscious, and vibrant tango, highlighting both the quality of movement and the expressive, musical, and human depth of Argentine dance.
